Learning as a pathway to capacity, dignity, and service

Purpose

Applied Calculus for Public Health Epidemiology is an educational activity designed to strengthen professional skills, workforce capacity, and practical reasoning in public health epidemiology and public health decision-making. Its purpose is not only technical competence, but service: enabling professionals to better understand patterns of health and disease and to apply that understanding in ways that benefit populations and communities.

Charitable Organization

In this spirit, a portion of the proceeds from this book will be donated to Covenant House International, whose mission includes education and workforce development programs for adolescents and young adults experiencing homelessness. Covenant House’s job training and career readiness initiatives support young people as they build skills, regain stability, and pursue meaningful work.

Shared Principle

While the audiences differ, the underlying principle is shared: education and skill development are foundational to opportunity, dignity, and long-term resilience. This contribution acknowledges that workforce development—whether for public health professionals or for vulnerable youth—is a concrete way to invest in individuals and, ultimately, in communities.
